OHM BENGALI CULTURAL ASSOCIATION is a prospering non-profit organisation, established in The Hague, Netherlands. Our community-led by a small group of professionals and virtuous Bengali Hindus, whose sole motive is to ensure that our rich culture and tradition is maintained. We dedicate bringing the fun we had in childhood, to our next generation through various socio-cultural events. We organise cultural festivals, summer programs/trips, and activities which brings joy and happiness among people.
Every year, we are incredibly proud to present spectacular cultural programs during the religious week promoting the richness and diversity of our community. Our main event takes place every year on Vasant Panchami day, which is devoted to Saraswati, the Hindu Goddess of knowledge, music, arts, wisdom, and the learning. She is the part of the trinity of Saraswati, Lakshmi, and Parvati. This trinity helps Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva to create, maintain, and destroy (to regenerate) the universe, respectively. We worship Goddess Saraswati to enlighten with knowledge and to get rid of lethargy, sluggishness, and ignorance.
Our culture is becoming more extensive and well-known among Europe, reflecting the broad nature of the community we work in. Therefore, we ensure the preservation of Bengali culture and Hindu religion, further its advancement, promote and make use of it towards the enrichment of the Dutch society in the Netherlands. Furthermore, organising more inclusive cultural events and the infrastructure has enabled us to manage our lives more effectively and to assume greater responsibility for ourselves and our community.
OBCA strongly believes in supporting and empowering all members of the community, building personal and community resilience along the way. These are our crucial tool that will make a positive and lasting impact on all our members to enable them to have enhanced life chances.
